Following his successful solo debut on Saturday Night Takeaway, Dec will take up hosting duties on Britain’s Got Talent alone.

With Ant McPartlin calling time on all forthcoming work, the question of who would host Britain’s Got Talent has been a major talking point.

However, insiders and chiefs including Simon Cowell were so positively surprised at Dec’s solo efforts over the weekend that they now want him to take on BGT alone.

And that’s a wrap #SaturdayNightTakeaway

An insider said: “After last weekend the feeling is very much that Dec should take on BGT alone too – he did a brilliant job.

“The bosses at ITV loved him and want him back on screens as soon as possible, and Simon Cowell totally agrees that he’s the best man for the job rather than bringing in a new face."

Ant and Dec had already pre-recorded the BGT auditions together, before Ant got arrested for drink-driving last month.

The source continued: “It was obviously strange for viewers seeing him alone at first, but he took everything in his stride like a total pro. That’s not to say people didn’t miss Ant, but the overwhelming response was that Dec was fantastic solo too.

“It also solves the major headache over continuity issues because so much of the series is already in the bag after the auditions finished.”

Dec has just one more episode of Saturday Night Takeaway to host alone, before plunging himself in to his BGT hosting duties this month.

You can do it Dec!
