But she's not giving up that easily.
Eamonn Holmes has revealed his concerns for injury-hit wife Ruth Langsford.
Eamonn, 57, says that Ruth, also 57, is battling through pain this week as she learns to tango with professional Strictly Come Dancing dance partner Anton Du Beke, 51. Ruth is soldiering on though, with the help of daily physio for her hamstring injury. However, Eamonn told The Mirror: “The chances of her winning are nil.” Charming!
He continued: “I say to her, ‘Are you OK? You look exhausted. Is it not time to step away?’ She is enjoying proving things to herself. I think she loves it.”
It’s clear to viewers that Ruth is having her time of her life in the Strictly bubble, but in an Instagram video on September 29th she did express worries about her hamstring issue.
But the This Morning and Loose Women presenter is obviously made of strong stuff, and looks set to keep giving her all to the dance competition. Good on you, Ruth!
This week, Ruth and Anton will dance the Tango to the track ‘Allegretto’ by Bond. (You’ll definitely know it when you hear it).
Last week’s rumba to Shirley Bassey’s 007 classic ‘Diamonds Are Forever’ saw Ruth and Anton near the bottom of the leader board. They managed to avoid the Dreaded Dance Off again, though. Both Ruth and Anton have solid fan bases, which combined with her tenacity should see them through for a while yet.
Meanwhile, poor Eamonn admits he feels a bit bereft while Ruth is in training.
At an event for Gesher School, a primary for children with special educational needs, he said: “The house can be lonely. I work longish hours and when I come home I think ‘Where is Ruthie?’ She’s not there.”
Don’t worry, Eamonn! Just keep showing up in the Strictly audience on Saturday nights to give Ruth your support. She’ll definitely be home by Christmas.
