Eastenders character Adam Woodyatt has just confirmed he’s taking up a new role in panto.

Adam Woodyatt is returning to panto in Swindon this Christmas to play the role of Abanazar in Aladdin.

The 49-year-old actor who plays Ian Beale in Eastenders is no stranger to pantomimes, having previously played Captain Hook.

Fans will no doubt be wondering what this means for his role on The Square, as the panto will have him out of his soap acting duties between the 8th of December to the 6th of January 2019.

However, when Adam has done panto in the past, he has still managed to remain on screen, so we’re sure they’ll find a way around it!

Let’s not forget his on screen wife, Jane still needs rescuing, after being forced out of Albert Square by Max - and even though Max’s lies and scandal have all now come to surface, Ian appears to have forgotten all about her.

So one month on the hunt for Jane could totally work.

We’re crossing our fingers and toes that this isn’t the end for Ian Beale on Eastenders!
