As period dramas go, you can't much better than than 'Outlander', which is set in both the 1940s AND the 1740s. Yes, that's right, it's a time travelling period drama. Based on the best-selling books by Diana Gabaldon, it follows an army nurse who's gets transported into the past while she's on a second honeymoon in Scotland with her husband. To survive she ends up marrying a Scottish warrior and becomes torn between two loves and two lives.

Silicon Valley

The stomping ground of some of the most famous tech wizards in the world has finally gotten it's own TV show in the form of, 'Silicon Valley'. The show centres around a group of friends who are all trying to create the next big thing until one day, one of them does. Success isn't all it's cracked up to be though, as they have to deal with running their own company, dealing with tech giants and getting over their social anxiety.

The Missing

This BBC drama focuses on what happens to two parents after their child is abducted on holiday. Starring James Nesbitt and Frances O'Connor, the father returns eight years later to try and discover what happened to his son. It's impossible to not compare the show to the real life story of the McCanns but if you can handle with the upsetting material, it's an incredible moving programme.

The Following

Kevin Bacon stars in this crime drama about a serial killer who escapes his execution and builds up a cult of followers to continue his gruesome work. Bacon plays the agent who caught him the first time and is now charged with finding him again but he already gave up everything to imprison him once. Can he do it again?

This ITV comedy stars acting legends Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Derek Jacobi as a sniping couple who've been together for nearly 50 years. They've got nothing better to do than entertain their friends and insult each other, which makes for extremely entertaining viewing. With digs and laughs in equal measure, and easy to digest half an hours episodes, 'Vicious' is sure to brighten up your day.

Madam Secretary

This political drama is fairly new to our screens but if you haven't started it yet, it's definitely worth a look. Starring Téa Leoni as the newly appointed US Secretary of State, she faces a multitude of challenges including struggling to balance international crisis and family life. Packed full of intrigue and drama, you'll enjoying watching this power female character take control in a man's world.

This is one for any 'Game Of Thrones' fans who need another gory fantasy drama in their lives. Full of strapping Scandinavian-looking warriors and beautiful Queens, war is the name of the game and these guys aren't going away without a fight.
