Film of the Week: Take Me Home Tonight

Proving, perhaps, that the 1980s is the decade that just keeps on giving, this lovingly recreated homage to the popular culture and alarming fashions of the John Hughes 'Pretty in Pink' era adds some decidedly adult ingredients to the familiar mix.

Advancing ten years or so from That 70s Show, star Topher Grace and writers Jackie and Jeff Fligo deliver a hard-edged comedy in which slumming graduate Matt Franklin (Grace) is working in a video store when he encounters his former school crush Tori (Teresa Palmer).

Suitably impressed by his little white lie about being an investment banker, she invites him to a party. Matt brings along tubby best mate Barry (Dan Fogler) to back up his story.

Just to complicate matters further, the shindig is co-hosted by Matt's twin sister, Wendy (Anna Faris) - and riotously kitschy hijinks ensue.
