Will the professional dancer have better luck this year?

Will Young’s decision to 'Leave Right Now' during last year’s series of Strictly has been described as “a difficult time” by Karen Clifton. Young’s professional dance partner also had to withdraw from the contest after he quit the show in October 2016.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Karen said:  "It was a difficult time. This series I'm just hoping for a partner that's fun and wants a good time and who will enjoy the journey - and be there.” Ouch.

"Whenever you're on the show you're hoping you'll get someone who wants to be there,” she continued. “Strictly is so loved and you want someone who is keen to learn and is ready for a new adventure."

Karen, 35, has been part of Strictly for the last five years alongside husband and fellow professional, Kevin Clifton. Last year, Kevin’s sister won the show with her celebrity partner Ore Oduba. She then quit the show to pursue her musical theatre ambitions.

Neither Karen or Kevin have managed to hold the glitterball trophy aloft. Karen came fourth in 2014 with Mark Wright, while Kevin has made the final an impressive FOUR times. However, so far he has always been the bridesmaid and never the bride.  Kevin was the runner-up every year from 2013 to 2016 with Susanna Reid; Frankie Bridge; Kellie Bright and Louise Redknapp respectively.

Could 2017 be the year that one of them goes all the way?

So much depends on the all-important pairing between celebrity and professional dancer. Will Karen be paired up with one of the three male celebs who were confirmed over the past few days?

Holby City actor Joe McFadden, who plays Raffaello ‘Raf' di Lucca in the BBC One medical drama, is the sixth celebrity to be confirmed. The Glaswegian actor’s breakthrough role was as PC Joe Mason in Heartbeat.

Joe will be competing against Simon Rimmer, presenter of Channel 4’s popular Sunday Brunch. The chef says that he is a HUUGE fan of the show.” That sounds like a good start to us!

Former JLS star Aston Merrygold will also be showing us his moves. As well as selling ten million records worldwide with his former bandmates, Aston did a stint as a judge on Sky One's Got To Dance. So we're expecting big things.

Also confirmed to be hitting the dancefloor so far are Saturdays singer Mollie King; EastEnders actor Davood Ghadami; Ruth Langsford from This Morning and Loose Women; Ex-Emmerdale actress Gemma Atkinson and former Communards star Rev. Richard Coles.
