Murder Investigation Starts in Southampton

A 25 year-old man's been arrested on supsicion of murder following the death of a dad of four in Southampton.

Police were called to - what they're calling - "a public order offence" in Vernon Walk just before midnight on Friday. 

Jason Gregory - who was 44 - was taken to hospital after having a suspected heart attack; he's since died. 

His partner Melanie's described him as a "hardworking famliy man".

Well two men were arrested over what happened; one of them's now being questioned on suspicion of murder. 

Detectives are asking to speak to anyone who filmed it on their mobiles.


Detective Inspector John McGonigle said: “We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or anyone who was in the vicinity of Vernon Walk, London Road and Winchester Street between these times.

“It was a busy Friday night and we believe a lot of people may have seen what happened or may be able to offer information that can assist us in ascertaining the exact circumstances surrounding this incident.

“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have footage of what happened. Please get in contact by calling 101 and quoting Operation Norland.”
