16 Year Old Fatal Crash Victim Named

Police have named the 16 year old girl killed in a crash in Havant as Payton Sparks.

The teenager from Botley Drive in Havant was a pupil at Woodlands School. She died when the car she was in, hit a building at Staunton Country Park on Petersfield Road in Havant at 10.42 p.m. Saturday 25th May. 

Payton, who was a passenger in the front seat, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 19-year-old man from Hayling Island, suffered serious injuries and is currently in intensive care at the Queen Alexandra Hospital.
 
A 14-year-old boy, from Havant, who was travelling in the rear seat of the vehicle, also sustained serious leg and head injuries and is being treated at Southampton General Hospital.
 
Sergeant Rob Heard, leading the investigation for the Roads Policing Unit, said: "This is a very tragic incident which has led to the loss of a young girl's life. We are focussing on establishing what the teenagers were doing in the hours preceding the collision, and are very keen to hear from anyone who saw a green Vauxhall Tigra being driven in the Leigh Park and Havant area from 10pm onwards last night.
