Driver Tried To Lure Boy Into His Car

6 June 2011, 15:27

A man pulled up to a 16-year-old boy and told him to get in his car when the boy was cycling home in Twyford near Winchester - but the boy rode off.

The boy said he was followed from the train station by a man in a red car who approached him several times and offered him a lift home.

The boy refused and carried on home where he reported the incident to the police.

It happened around 10.20pm, Tuesday, May 31.

The man is described as:

· White

· Older than 40

· Curly, dark grey or black hair

He was driving what is believed to be an old Vauxhall estate car.

Inspector Patrick Reddin said:

"The boy did the right thing on this occasion by continuing to walk on and reporting the incident to us as soon as possible.

"Clearly something like this is concerning for the community and our Safer Neighbourhoods teams conduct regular patrols around the village.

"To date, we have not received reports of any similar incidents in the area."

If you spot this man, or anyone else acting suspiciously, contact police immediately on 999, or 101 if it's less urgent.
