8 February 2010, 12:32 | Updated: 8 February 2010, 13:03

Hampshire County Council Highways will be undertaking works in Leigh Road, Chandler's Ford on 08 February 2010 for a two week period.

In order to safely carry out the works it will be necessary to close sections of the road to traffic, as listed below:-

Mon 08 February 2010 to Friday 19 February 2010(Incl),

Leigh Road, Chandler's Ford to be closed between it's junction with the M3 Jct 13 northbound off slip to the Bournemouth Road traffic light junction. All adjoining road junctions on to this section of Leigh Road are to also be closed.

The reason for this closure is;

The installation of a new pedestrian refuge and local carriageway widening near to the Belmont Rd jct,

The rebuilding of seven bus stops with new bus access kerbs installed

The resurfacing of the carriageway and associated lining and traffic signal loop cutting.

The diversion route whilst the closure is in operation will be in either direction via Bournemouth Road, Winchester Road, Allbrook Way, Woodside Avenue and Leigh Road. Advance signing is to also be erected on the M3 advocating the use of junction 12.

In addition to the above closure,

Mon 08 February 2010 to Thursday 11 February 2010, (between 22:00 and 06:00 each night).

Leigh Road, Chandler's Ford to be closed between the M3 Jct 13 northbound off slip to the M3 overpass. All adjoining junctions on to this section of Leigh Road will also be closed including both the M3 Jct 13 northbound on and off slips.

The reason for this closure is to allow carriageway resurfacing works and associated lining etc to be carried out.

The diversion route each night whilst the closure is in operation will be via M3 junction 12 then joining the daytime diversion listed above.

Please note this closure is only for night works and junction 13 of the M3 will be open outside of 22:00 - 06:00 on the above dates.
