Efit over Portsmouth Attempted Robbery

Police are appealing for information after a man broke into a student hall in Portsmouth and tried to steal a laptop.

The victim, an 18-year-old student, was in his room at the time it happened just 9pm, Saturday, November 27.

The offender walked into the room in the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hall, Furze Lane, Milton,
and went straight for the laptop on the desk.

The student was sat on his bed on the phone at the time; he stood up and confronted the offender who punched the student in the face and ran off empty-handed.

DC Allison Fraser from Portsmouth CID said:  "The student suffered bruising but was not seriously injured. It must have been shocking for someone to simply walk into his room while he was still there. I'd like to hear from anyone who saw a man matching this description hanging around the Langstone campus on Saturday evening. We're looking at possible links between this incident and a separate robbery where two men got into Harry Law Halls. A man's been arrested and charged for that and enquiries are ongoing.

Please remember if you are living in halls to only let into the building people you recognise. Don't be afraid to challenge anyone you don't know."

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Fraser at Fratton police station on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
