Elton John To Headline Bestival!
Sir Elton John is to be among the headliners for this year's Bestival on the Isle of Wight.
It'll be his first major festival appearance for years, and sees him playing alongside acts such as Snoop Dogg, Flaming Lips and Franz Ferdinand.
The line-up for the event, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, also includes MIA, Bombay Bicycle Club and Johnny Marr.
Sir Elton was among the visitors to the island for the Isle Of Wight Festival in the late 1960s, although he has yet to play a major outdoor show there.
He said: ''I haven't played any of the major festivals in the UK in recent years, so when the opportunity to play Bestival came up I was very interested.
I've heard that the Bestival audience comes in fancy dress and I can't wait to see that - they must all look amazing from the stage.
At various times I wore enormous feathered head-dresses, cloaks, hot pants, jumpsuits, clown suits, a Minnie Mouse outfit, French maid, the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty.''
Sir Elton, who became a father for the second time this month when son Elijah was born, added: ''Wearing fancy dress makes us all feel less inhibited so I think it's a great way to enjoy live music.''
This year marks the 40th anniversary of one of his best-known albums - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - and he promised to play a number of tracks from that release.
Other performers at the event, staged from September 5 to 8, include The Roots, Sinead O'Connor and Belle & Sebastian.
Organiser DJ Rob Da Bank said: ''2013 will be a vintage year. Band and DJ-wise we've cast our net far and wide.''
