Gang Of Girls Attack Couple In Southampton

29 June 2011, 09:31

Police in Southampton are appealing for witnesses after a young couple were attacked outside a city centre bar and then again outside a bus stop by a group of up to five women.

A 19-year-old woman and her 21-year-old boyfriend were outside the Bliss Clubrooms in Vincents Walk shortly after 1.30am on Sunday, June 26 in the smoking area when the women started arguing with the 19-year-old and one of them hit her several
times in the face. A doorman came and stopped the attack and the young couple left the area and went down to a bus stop outside Primark.

They then realised they had been followed by the women, who started attacking the 19-year-old again, punching her so she fell to the ground.

Her boyfriend pulled one of them off her and he was then attacked and punched in the head several times.

The attackers were then seen to leave in a black Mitsubishi L200 4x4 vehicle and were seen crossing the Itchen Bridge.

The woman then realised things were missing from her handbag which it’s believed were taken when she dropped it as she was being attacked. These include cash, a driving licence and an Apple iPhone.

Both victims needed medical treatment. The 19-year-old has bruising and swelling to her face and scratches and the man has a suspected broken eye socket and a broken nose.

The five women attackers are described as:

White, long blonde hair, 5ft 7inches tall and slim build, orange dress and white stiletto shoes

White, brown hair tied back, 5ft 6 inches tall and plump build, black leggings and leopard print top

White, blonde hair tied back, 5ft 6 inches tall and slim build, light coloured top (possible leopard print) and light coloured trousers

White, long dark hair, white flower/headband in hair, black top with white spots on it, short black skirt

White, brown hair tied in bun, 5'6 in height and plump build, black leggings and leopard print strappy top.

PC Tom Wyld who is investigating the incident said: “I am keen to trace the five women that we believe are involved in this unprovoked and vicious assault. The incident happened outside of a popular nightspot which was busy at the time and
there were a number of witnesses that would have seen the incident.

“The women left the area in a new black Mitsubishi L200 4x4 vehicle on a 2011 registration plate and travelled across the Itchen Bridge towards Woolston. It was travelling at speed and overtook at least one other vehicle as it crossed the bridge.

“I would ask that anyone with information on the assault or the whereabouts of the vehicle to please contact myself or Crimestoppers.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Tom Wyld at Southampton Central police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
