Hospital Fully Re-Opens After Gas Leak

A Hampshire hospital which was evacuated on Tuesday Sept 20th following a gas leak has now fully re-opened.

On Wednesday 21st September, a spokesperson said:

The Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester is fully open and normal service has been resumed following the gas leak. Florence Portal House, which houses the maternity, breast surgery and gynaecology units has reopened this morning. Patients evacuated on Tuesday 20th to other parts of the hospital will be moved back later today.

Ambulances are no longer being diverted and women in labour are advised to phone the labour ward at Winchester on 01962 824231/32. 


During Tuesday's evacuation one woman had to give birth in an operating theatre and several others in the early stages of labour had to be sent home.
