Girl Threatened With Knife In Portsmouth

Police are appealing for the man who intervened during an incident in Portsmouth, to come forward.

At some time between 4.30pm and 4.45pm on Tuesday, November 22, a 10-year-old girl was on her bike at the junction of Bettesworth Road with Ernest Road, Portsmouth, when she was stopped by three male youths.
 
Two of the males held the girls arms whilst the third produced a knife and threatened her.  A man, who is described as being aged in his 50s with short grey hair, then intervened and the three males ran off in the direction of Ernest Road.
 
The three males, who stopped the girl, are described as:
 
Male one:
- White
- Aged 15 - 16
- 5ft 8ins – 5ft 9ins
- Described as having thin lips
- Wearing a black hooded top with the hood up and black tracksuit bottoms with white stripes down the leg

Males two:
- White
- Described as having fat lips
- No description of clothing other than having a blue sleeve

Male three:
- White
- Described as having fat lips
- No description of clothing other than having a grey sleeve
 
PC James Scott, said: “This was a particularly distressing incident for the victim who was only 10 years old.

“Did you see these youths in the area at the time of the incident, or were you the member of the public who intervened?  We are very keen to speak to the man who intervened as he may have vital information about the offenders and could assist with our inquiry.
 
“I would urge anyone with any information about this incident to come forward as soon as possible.”
