A man's been arrested over a hit and run crash near Winchester which left a driver with serious leg injuries.
Shortly before 2pm on Sunday 26 July, an 88-year-old man was driving a silver Saab along Winchester Road in Durley, accompanied by his wife, when his car was in collision with a Red Citroen C3.
The Citroen driver left the scene prior to police arriving.
The elderly man was trapped in the vehicle and remains in Southampton General Hospital, where he is being treated for complex leg injuries.
A 55-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested in connection with this incident and reported for summons in relation to the following offences:
- Driving without due care and attention
- Failure to stop after a collision
- Failure to report a collision
- Driving whilst disqualified.
He was released pending the summons to court.
Sergeant Dave Sanderson said:
“This collision was a horrible ordeal for this elderly couple.
“Failing to stop after a road accident of this nature is a very serious matter.”
