Homeless Man Robbed In Portsmouth

Police in Portsmouth are appealing for information following a report of theft from a homeless man in the city sometime between 2.30 and 2.50pm on Tuesday, February 28.

A 33-year-old man was approached in Bridport Street, near Dale Park House, by another man, who asked for a cigarette. As the victim took his tobacco out of his pocket with some rolled up cash, the man grabbed the £90 cash and ran off alongUpper Arundel Street, northbound towards Arundel Street.
 
The victim was not injured. 
 
The offender is described as:
 
White man
30-35 years old
5 foot 8-9 inches tall
Sunken cheeks and slightly dark stubble
Bad Teeth
Wearing a black zip up jacket with no obvious logos, light blue jeans and white (very worn) trainers.
 
Investigating officer, Special Constable Alex Ford said: ”Whether or not force is used, thefts from someone are not acceptable. This happened in broad daylight so it is important that the publicremain vigilant, especially in helping us to identify this man.

“Also I would like to take this opportunity to reinforce our crime prevention advice - Keep valuables and cash out of sight, and consider using purse lanyards”.
