Hunt For BMW Used In Raid

Detectives investigating an armed robbery in Fareham have released a CCTV image of the car they believe to be the getaway vehicle.

The dark-coloured BMW 1 series was caught on camera in the town on the night of Tuesday (Dec 13) when raiders targeted the Nationwide building society in West Street.

During the robbery, which took place at around 11.30pm, security guards at the ATM were forced to the floor while the offenders, all dressed in dark coloured clothing, smashed their way into the branch and made off with a large amount of cash.

Detective Sergeant Ross Toms, said:

"We believe there were at least three offenders involved in this incident and they made off in a dark blue or black BMW 1 series.

"This car was last sighted at the Quay Street roundabout in Fareham at around 11.35pm on Tuesday (Dec 13), and what we need to do now is establish its movements before and after this time.

"I would appeal to people to look at this image and see if they remember seeing this vehicle in the area around the time of the robbery.

"Any piece of information they have, no matter how small it may seem, could be crucial to our investigation."

Anyone with any information should contact Fareham CID on 101.
