Man And Woman Attacked In Portsmouth

Police are appealing for information after a man and woman were attacked in Portsmouth.

At some time between 7.40pm and 8.15pm on Sunday, February 21 the two victims, a 30-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, were parked at the top of Cheltenham Road near to Paulsgrove Primary School with the intention of turning around.

Another vehicle, which is described as being a small dark car which was no bigger than a Peugeot 106, Corsa or Clio, pulled up alongside the vehicle and refused to move when the driver was asked.

The victims were then attacked by the three occupants of the small dark car, one woman and two men. One of the male offenders used a metal pole or asp to attack them.

After the attached the offenders got back in the car and drove off at speed.

The man sustained a broken arm and bruises to his body. The woman sustained bruising to her head and neck and her glasses were broken in the attack. They were both treated at the Queen Alexandra Hospital.

Their vehicle was also damaged and the rear windscreen was smashed.

Officers have descriptions of the three people they want to speak to.

The first man, who is the man who used the metal pole/asp, is described as: 

White
Around 6ft 3ins
Short cropped brown hair
Wearing a dark jacket and dark trousers
He spoke with a local accent

The second man is described as:

White
Around 6ft
He had short dark hair
Wearing dark clothes, possibly a tracksuit
He spoke with a local accent

The woman is described as:

White
Around 5ft 7ins
Light brown hair which was pulled into a pony tail
Wearing a brown jumper

Detective Constable Sarah Lortal, said: ”I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward and speak to us.

“Were you in the area at the time of the incident? Did you see or hear anything suspicous? Did you see the vehicle speed away from the scene?

“I would urge anyone with any information to come forward and help us locate the people responsible for this attack.”
