Man Has Face Slashed During Robbery

Shirley detectives are seeking witnesses to a violent street robbery which left a 23-year-old man with a slashed face.

Between 5.30 and 6pm Saturday, July 21, the victim was walking along Oakley Road, towards Tebourba Way, Southampton, when he was grabbed from behind by two white men and pulled into the off-road entrance to NHS headquarters and pushed to the ground.

While he was held down by the two white men, a black man appeared and repeatedly cut the victim's cheek before taking money from his pocket.

The victim fought back, and the three men ran away in different directions.

All three robbers wore white and black tracksuits. Detectives want to hear from anyone who saw the trio at the time and place of the attack or anyone who saw individual men in black and white track suits running away from this area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Shirley CID on 101 or ring the anonymous Crimestoppers charity line on 0800 555 111.  Minicom users can ring 01962 875000.
