Operation Fortress: More Arrests

Another 13 people have been arrested in Southampton over two days in connection with Operation Fortress.

The two-year police campaign was launched at the end of May to combat serious violent crimes associated with the supply of drugs in the city. 
 
On July 1, police received a report that a 26-year-old woman was threatened, robbed and assaulted on Somerset Avenue around 4.10pm. 
 
Officers from the local CID teams detained a suspect and conducted a search of a property on Burgoyne Road. They seized £10,000 in cash and CS gas. 
 
Three people were arrested and bailed until August 23 pending further enquiries: 

* A 29 year-old Southampton man arrested on suspicion of two counts of common assault, robbery, threats to kill and being concerned in the supply of class A drugs

* A 20-year-old Southampton woman arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and being concerned in the supply of class A drugs 

* A 48-year-old Southampton woman was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class B drugs and possessing a weapon for the discharge of noxious liquid

Officers from the city centre team carried out a warrant at an address on Lyon Street on July 2. 
 
Five people were arrested and 247 deals of crack and heroin were seized.
 
David Collier, 38, of Lyon Street, and his brother, Andrew Collier, 42, of Lower Mortimer Road, Southampton, were both charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin. They were remanded in custody to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court on July 3. 
 
Two men, 22 and 32, and a woman, 22, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and were bailed until August 28. 
 
Acting on information that a man had been harmed at an address in Cranbury Place, police carried out a search of the property. Five people were arrested and a quantity of class A drugs were seized. 
 
An 18-year-old London man is currently in custody on suspicion of making threats to kill, false imprisonment and possessing a class A drug. 
 
Two Southampton men, 19 and 23, are being held on suspicion of false imprisonment and threats to kill. 
 
Two Southampton women, 17 and 16, were arrested on suspicion of threats to kill and false imprisonment and later released without charge.
