41 yr old man charged with attempted kidnap after reports a 14 year old was approached walking home from school in Portsmouth.
Detectives have this morning (Friday, October 7) charged a man with attempted kidnap with the intent to commit a sexual offence and possession of a bladed article.
41-year-old Roger Seath of no fixed address, has been charged and held on remand.
The charge comes after police received a report of a suspicious man following and trying to stop and talk to a 14-year-old girl on Kent Road just before 4pm on Wednesday, October 5.
Our advice to the public remains the same.
Stay alert but not alarmed. Remain vigilant and remind children and teenagers of stranger danger. Report anything or anyone suspicious to 101, or call 999 in an emergency.
We are working closely with school staff to ensure children feel safe walking to and from school in the coming days, when we will be carrying out reassurance patrols at school finishing time.
We would like parents and teenagers alike to be alert, but not alarmed and report anything suspicious to 101 or 999 appropriately.
