The court martial of a Royal Navy sailor accused of raping a female colleague has been adjourned for legal reasons.

Engineering Technician (Marine Engineering) Kenni Dinnell, who has previously served on board the Type 42 destroyer HMS York, is alleged to have raped a sailor on July 10 last year.

The incident is claimed to have taken place at an accommodation block at HMS Nelson, the Navy headquarters at Portsmouth and where ET Dinnell is currently based.

Judge Jeff Blackett adjourned the case at the court martial centre at Portsmouth Naval Base, Hampshire, until a date to be set.
