Schoolgirl Admits Lying About Assault

Eleven–year-old girl admits she lied about being assaulted by man in van in North Baddesley.

An 11-year-old girl has today admitted she lied to police about being assaulted by a man who got out of a van as she walked home from school.

The youngster had said the incident happened in Bracken Road, North Baddesley on Friday afternoon (January 13) and that two men in a white van followed her and one got out, chased her and pushed her to the ground.

However she's since attended Romsey Police Station with her father and admitted to officers she had made up the story. She told them she was sorry for what she had done and sorry for worrying lots of parents.

Officers have spoken with her and given her words of advice around her behaviour but will not be taking any further action. They would also like to reassure local people that no such incident took place and no school pupil was assaulted.
