Southampton Teen In Glass Attack

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a 17-year-old Southampton youth was slightly injured during an attempted robbery as he walked home.

He was making his way back to his home after being out with friends at around 3.45am on Saturday, April 30 when it happened.

He was walking along an alleyway from Kanes Hill which leads directly to Kinsbourne Way at the junction of Kinsbourne Way and Kinsbourne Rise when a man approached him from behind. He placed a piece of glass against his neck and demanded
money and his mobile phone.

The man used the glass to make several small cuts across the victim’s neck but luckily they were not serious. He elbowed the man in the face and the would-be robber ran off.

The victim went home and did not need medical treatment for his injuries.

The man who tried to rob him is described as: Around 5ft 7 inches tall, medium build, white, wearing a black hoody which was up. He smelt of alcohol and had a local accent.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time and saw what happened or knows who is responsible for the attack to contact DC Steve Lanham at Shirley CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
