Tower Plans Go On Display In Portsmouth

The University is in talks with Portsmouth City Council to buy and develop the site of the Victoria Swimming Baths.

If the proposal goes ahead they will be working with a development partner to construct and manage what they say is much needed student accommodation which could provide around 600 new rooms.  The development will also include new teaching and office space.

A public exhibition of the preliminary designs for the space were on dispay in Anglesea Building over the weekend with representatives from the university's design team and development partner explaining the proposals and answering questions.

Work with the architects and the design team on the building has been underway for several months but contracts and planning consent are yet to be finalised. It's hoped the space would be available in September 2012.
