Woman Fights For Life After Crash

Hampshire police are investigating a car crash in the New Forest which has left a woman fighting for her life.

The collision, involving a black BMW X5, happened shortly after 10pm last night as the vehicle travelled east on the Fritham to Bramshaw Road towards the Bramble Hill Hotel.

For reasons yet to be established, the driver of the BMW, a 25-year-old man from Southampton lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a series of bends, and collided with a tree.

The driver and front seat passenger, a 28-year-old woman from the Romsey area were trapped in the vehicle and were freed by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service using hydraulic cutting equipment.

The rear passenger, a 22-year-old woman also from the Romsey area was not trapped.

All three occupents of the vehicle sustained serious injuries, with the front seat passenger’s condition life threatening.

All casualties were taken to Southampton General Hospital.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash to call PC Duncan Inness at Totton Roads Policing Unit on 101 quoting Operation Chenille.
