New super vacuum cleaners are coming to the South Hams.

Four massive vacuum cleaners are soon to arrive on the South Hams streets. Over 60 thousand pounds has been spent on the new electric-powered street-sweeping machines which suck up everything from glass to dog mess.

They will not stay in one place but will go to litter hot spots in different towns and villages whenever they are needed.

Authorities have told Heart they will not replace street cleaners who currently work around the district but will work alongside them to make sure the South Hams stays a pleasant and pretty place for both local families and the thousands of visitors that come here every year.

The first machine will go to work in Totnes.
