Bank robbery in Gorseinon

South Wales Police are investigating an attempted robbery at a bank in Gorseinon.

Two men wearing blue overalls went in to the Lloyds Bank on the High Street just after 10am on Tuesday morning.

Police say the men had their faces covered and were carrying weapons, but fled the scene empty handed before officers arrived.

People in nearby shops were told to stay indoors, but nobody was injured during the raid.

A section of High Street was cordoned off by armed police but has now re-opened.

A South Wales Police spokesperson said: "Enquiries to identify and locate the suspects are ongoing and officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area prior to or following the incident, or anyone who has any information which could assist the investigation.

"Please contact 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
