Bury St. Edmunds: Fire Treated As Suspicious

Suffolk Police are treating a flat fire in Bury St. Edmunds as suspicious.

The residents of the ground-floor flat at Ipswich Court were sleeping with a window open when they were awoken by the smell of smoke. 

The bedroom curtains were alight. 

Firefighters were called to the flat in the early hours of this morning. 

The fire was brought under control just after 1.30am. 

The residents of the ground-floor flat were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. No one suffered any serious injuries. 

The building consist of four flats, all of which were smoke logged. One further casualty, who was found outside the property was treated on scene. They also suffered smoke inhalation.   

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area.
