Bury St Eds: Murder Investigation Continues

A man remains in custody today in connection with the murder of a man in Bury St Edmunds.

Police were called to reports of a fight in Ashwell Road, Bury St Edmunds just before midnight last night, Monday 20th February.

A man was found collapsed at the location. He was taken to West Suffolk Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police are trying to locate the man's next of kin; as soon as the family members have been traced formal identification will take place.

A post mortem examination is due to take place later this afternoon to try to ascertain the cause of death.

A cordon is still in place at the scene in Ashwell Road and is likely to remain for 24-48 hours whilst officers conduct their enquiries and gather any forensic evidence.

The 48-year-old man from the Bury St Edmunds area who was arrested on suspicion of murder, remains in custody at the Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation for questioning.
