Ipswich: Armed Robbery At Shop

Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery in Grimwade Street, Ipswich yesterday.

Officers received a call at around 3:50pm reporting a man had entered the shop and produced a knife before demanding money from the till.

Cash was handed over and the man then left in the direction of the docks. A female member of staff was in the shop at the time and is shaken but unharmed.

Police are keen to speak to customers who may have seen the offender. A man entered the shop prior to the incident and asked if they sold beer before then leaving immediately before the robbery took place. Following the incident a man and a woman entered the shop and bought cigarettes and a drink. They are described as in their late twenties to early thirties.

The offender is described as a white man, between 4ft 11ins to 5ft 3ins, of medium build, wearing a blue hooded top with a pocket across the front, dark grey trousers, white sports shoes and a black scarf covering his face.

Police are currently searching the area and are asking anyone with information to contact Ipswich CID on 101.
