Ipswich: Exra Police Around Chantry Park

There have been extra overnight police patrols in Ipswich after a man was found dead in Chantry Park.

Police received a call from a member of the public at around 6:50am, reporting the discovery. Officers attended the park, which was then closed and areas were cordoned off.

Police would like to thank members of the public for their patience and are asking that people do not try and gain entry to the park until further notice.

A 42-year-old man from Ipswich has been arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to the Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where he remains.

The man is believed to be in his thirties and from the Ipswich area.

A Home Office post mortem examination will take place in due course to ascertain the cause of death.
