Ipswich: Murder Suspect Detained Under Mental Health Act

A man, arrested on suspicion of murder, has been detained under the Mental Health Act.

The 37 year old Ipswich man was arrested following an incident at an address in Saturn Road, Ipswich yesterday morning, where a man was found with stab wounds.

Russell Capon, aged 37 years from Ramsgate Drive, Ipswich was taken to Ipswich Hospital but was later declared deceased. A post mortem examination showed that his cause of death was as a result of stab wounds.

The arrested man, who had been taken to hospital after feeling unwell in custody has since been detained under the Mental Health Act and will now be detained at a secure mental health unit.

A cordon which has been in place around the scene of the incident in Saturn Road, Ipswich will be reduced later today to a smaller cordon and a police presence will remain. This scene will remain in place whilst police continue with their enquiries.

The investigation into this incident continues and police would still like to hear from anyone who has not yet been spoken to who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the early hours of Thursday 13 June in the area of Saturn Road, Ipswich.
