Two men from Ipswich are heading back to the UK from Haiti after a mercy mission to offer assistance to the hundreds of thousands of people affected by the earthquake.

Privates Aaron Ellis and Lennie Steff, both 23, were tasked with cargo duties on board a massive ship during its deployment to the Caribbean.

Aaron, a former pupil at Westbourne High School, said: "Our work on board Largs Bay provided a rewarding and memorable experience in Haiti. Delivering food to the community completely cut off in Anse a Veau by land slides and floods was a particular highlight, while seeing the community come together to help unload the cargo was fabulous."

Lennie, who attended Farlingaye High School in Woodbridge, added: "We have got in the thick of it and stood shoulder to shoulder with the villagers to help deliver over 25,000 boxes of aid. They have been moved to see a British ship coming to their help with so much food. I think this memory will last a lifetime."
