Ipswich appoint new manager

Ipswich have appointed Paul Jewell as their new manager on a two and a half year contract.

He replaces Roy Keane who left last on Friday.

Jewell, who managed Derby County until 2008, says he's looking forward to the challenge especially as he's been out of work;

"I've been out of football for two years, but you're never really out of it.

You travel around and watch other teams and try and improve your knowledge for when you get back into the game."

Jewell, 46, will have just over 48 hours to prepare his new side for their Carling Cup semi-final first leg against Arsenal on Wednesday.

He knocked the Gunners out of the same round of the cup in 2006 when his Wigan side went on to lose to Manchester United in the final.
