Man Stabbed After Assault

A man has been taken to hospital after reports of a stabbing.

Police were called with a report of an assault in the Ipswich early this morning.

A member of the public called police at approximately 3am this morning, stating that a man had been stabbed in the abdomen by another man along Wherstead Road in Ipswich.

An area near to the Shipwright Arms on Wherstead Road is currently cordoned off whilst police conduct an investigation.

The 22-year-old man was taken to Ipswich Hospital where he is receiving treatment for abdominal and arm injuries.

It is understood that a verbal altercation initially started between the victim and the attacker as the victim was walking with friends along St Nicholas Street in Ipswich before the stabbing in Wherstead Road.

The attacker has been described by a witness as a white man, approximately 6’1’’ tall, with short shaven hair, wearing light blue jeans and a striped jumper.
