Skeleton Found on Wasteland

Police investigating the discovery of skeletal remains on an area of wasteland in Valley Road, Ipswich can today confirm that they are human.

A cordon was set up yesterday morning, Monday 3 October and remains up today as work continues to examine the site.

Officers are currently working with experts including a forensic archaeologist and anthropologist to try and ascertain more information about the remains.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Luckett said: ”This investigation is in its very early stages but I can confirm the remains that were discovered are human. We are working to identify the sex and age of the deceased and will progress our investigations as we gather more information. I would ask anyone with any information to contact the Major Investigation Team. The site lies between residential houses and we understand that it has been derelict for many years so I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who can provide information about the site.”

If anyone has any information in relation to the site or how the remains came to be there they are asked to contact the Major Investigation Team at Suffolk Police headquarters on 01473 613500.
