A Suffolk man who murdered a woman with a bolt gun last May could have his life sentence extended today.

40 year old John McFarlane from Bury St Edmunds was jailed for at least 20 years for killing Mary Griffiths outside her home in Bury. The Mum was dragged from her home and executed infront of her children.

Today a Court of Appeal judge will decide if McFarlane's sentence was too lenient. At the time of sentencing in November Mr Justice Bean told him he would have ordered a minimum of 30 years had it not been for an early guilty plea and evidence he was suffering from a mental disorder at the time.

Suffolk Police are attending the hearing at The Old Bailey and are expected to release a statement later.
