Two men have been arrested over Friday's collision in East Grinstead which injured 4 children

Two East Grinstead men, aged 19 and 27, were arrested on Sunday morning, 20 January, on suspicion of vehicle offences and going equipped to steal, and after being interviewed were released on police bail until 20 February while enquiries continue.

The arrests follow police enquiries into a hit and run incident in the town on Friday 18 January.

Just before 10. on 18 January a dark grey BMW 3 series left the road in Imberhorne Lane, East Grinstead. The car struck a lamp post before colliding with a group of four children, causing them cuts and bruises, before going into a hedge. It then made off leaving the three teenage girls, two aged 14 and the other aged 15, and a boy aged 15, injured and on the ground. The three 15-year olds were taken to the East Surrey Hospital for treatment but were later discharged.

The car was found abandoned in Fellwater Court nearby where two men were seen to walk from it.
