Victim Named

The woman who died in Crawley after being attacked in a car has been formally identified as Shehla Baig, 27, of Woodfield Road, Crawley.

She was discovered in a Volkswagen Passat estate car outside her home by ambulance paramedics who had been called to the scene around 6pm on Tuesday (November 16). She had suffered multiple stab wounds and a post mortem revealed that her death was caused by a severed artery in her leg.

A 30-year-old man from Crawley was arrested on suspicion of murder and has been detained in a secure unit under Section 2 of the Mental Health Act.

A 51-year-old man from Crawley, arrested in connection with the incident, has been released on bail to return on January 25.

Police aren't confirming the men were the father in law and husband of the victim but they have confirmed she knew them. Officers also say reports that Shelea Baig was a mother are wrong
