Detectives investigating a serious sexual assault in Hastings on Valentines Day have released an e-fit of a man they want to trace.

On 13 March a 14-year-old girl reported a rape which she says took place on Valentine's night in Russell Court, just off West Street in Hastings Old Town.

Detective Constable Chris Varrall said: "The girl says it happened between 11pm on 14 February and 2am on the 15 February and we believe that there would have been many people out in the area in restaurants and pubs. We are studying CCTV and are making enquiries locally as part of our investigation.

"She describes the man whose Efit we are publishing today as white, of medium/skinny build with a belly. He had slight stubble on his face, brown messy hair which was short and slicked back. He was scruffy wearing a dark coloured hoody and tracksuit bottoms.

"Anyone who recognises the man is asked to come forward. Meanwhile we would like to reassure the public that that this is an isolated incident.
