Two people have died after a car was hit by a train on a level crossing near Horsham.

Officers are continuing to investigate after two people died at Barns Green level crossing in Horsham.

Officers can confirm that a 72-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy died after a train struck their car at 8.40am; their family is being supported by family liaison officers.

Detective Inspector Brett Walker from BTP said: “This is an extremely tragic incident and our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.

Today (Sunday 18th February) there will be no trains between Horsham and Pulborough with bus replacements instead while the investigation continues.
