FAQs

How do I enter?

You can enter the competition by texting WIN to 82122. Texts cost £2 plus your standard network rate. All the details of how to play are here.

When do I enter?

Make sure you text while the competition is open. When you hear a song by the specified artist playing on FM or DAB, as revealed on air, you’ve got 10 minutes from the start of the song to send your text. If you text at the wrong time you may still be charged, but you won’t be able to win.

Can I enter by phone or online?

No, text is the only way to enter each of our on-air competition rounds.

I missed the artist that I’m listening for today – who is it?

Keep listening to Heart, and we’ll remind you who the artist is throughout the day and the amount of money available to win, but they’re always revealed first in Heart Breakfast at 8am. And you can always check the page on our website.

Is one person really going to win one million pounds?

YES, really! One person WILL win one million pounds tax-free – not a “share of” the cash - the whole shebang!

How will you decide who wins the one million pound prize?

Winners in each round can either choose to walk away with the cash amount available that day, or instead choose a place in the Million Pound Final on Friday 28th May. There’s also one extra place up for grabs, through Heart’s Win+.

Once we’ve got all our names in the Million Pound Final on Friday 28th May, we’ll do a Stage One draw that will whittle the numbers down to nine Stage Two finalists. Then, we’ll play one last, additional round of the competition on air in Heart Breakfast to get our 10th Stage Two finalist. Each one of these ten people will have a one in ten chance of becoming the nation’s newest millionaire!

I have sent a text to enter but haven’t received a confirmation message

There are many different reasons for this. It could be due to insufficient funds, a Premium Rate block, a monthly cap that’s been exceeded, or a problem with your mobile phone network. You’ll need to contact your network about this: O2 Vodafone EE Sky Three Virgin

Why are my messages not sending in the first place?

If messages are not leaving your phone, then they haven’t reached us and won’t be included in the draw to win. This isn’t something we’re able to affect, so you’ll need to contact your mobile phone network (using one of the links above), and they’ll be able to advise you further.

I received my confirmation message quite a long time after the song played

Sometimes, when we experience a higher-than-normal volume of traffic, it can take longer than usual to process and send out our response messages, so even if you receive a confirmation message after the text lines closed, that entry was still included in the draw.

I missed a call – was it from Heart?

Unfortunately, we can’t disclose that information. Make sure that, if you enter, you’re available to safely answer your phone.

I’ve already entered one competition round. Can I enter another round?

Yes, you can enter different rounds of the competition. However, once you’ve won once - either a cash prize OR a place in the Million Pound Final - you can’t enter again, but you’ll still be charged if you try to. We strongly advise against excessive use of the Premium Rate text lines.

Heart’s Make Me A Millionaire on The Heart Network, March to May 2021 – Specific Rules.

1. The Heart’s Make Me A Millionaire promotion (‘Promotion’) is organised by Global (as defined in the General Terms and Conditions). The Promotion will run from Monday 1st March 2021 to Friday 28th May 2021 on The Heart Network. Global is the Promoter. The Promotion will not run on the Heart Dance, Heart 70s, Heart 80s & Heart 90s digital services. We reserve the right to add in extra Promotion rounds at weekends.

2. IMPORTANT: THIS PROMOTION IS ONLY OPEN TO RESIDENTS OF GREAT BRITAIN AND IS NOT OPEN TO RESIDENTS OF NORTHERN IRELAND, THE ISLE OF MAN OR THE CHANNEL ISLANDS. The Promotion is subject to these Specific Rules and the General Terms and Conditions which are available here. Entry into the Promotion constitutes acceptance of these Specific Rules and the General Terms and Conditions.

3. There is also an additional round of the Promotion on Heart’s Win+ online competition platform, running between 08:00 on Monday 1st March and 23:00 on Sunday 23rd May 2021. If you are declared the winner of this additional round, you will be asked (once you’ve been declared as the winner) to choose either a £1,000 prize or a place in the Million Pound Final (The “Million Pound Final” – as defined in clause 14 below). See from clause 45 for further conditions which apply to this Promotion round. Details of the Promotion:

4. To enter the Promotion, you must listen on FM or DAB and text in when you hear any song by a specified artist (the “Trigger Song”) as directed on-air by the presenter(s).

5. You must send a text message starting with the keyword WIN to 82122 (the “Text Message Line”). Text messages will be charged at £2 plus one standard network rate message. The text system may not recognise any other format of the keyword.

6. You will have 10 minutes from the start of the Trigger Song to enter. Entries received before or after this time will not be included in the Promotion but may still be charged.

7. The specified artist that you are required to identify on-air will change daily at the discretion of Heart and will be announced by the presenter(s) together with the cash prize available for each round that day.

8. A song (or standard Heart edit of a song) must be played in full to count as the Trigger Song. For the avoidance of doubt, elements of advertisements, short clips, extracts or background music do not constitute the Trigger Song. If the artist to identify is listed as a ‘featured artist’ on a song played on air, not the principal artist, this will still count as the Trigger Song, as long as the artist features on the Heart edit.

9. We are not responsible for any latency experienced by your mobile phone network, which may delay the delivery of text messages to and/or from us. Furthermore, we are not responsible for erroneous entries which may occur through a mobile phone network or handset error.

10. On entering the Promotion, you will receive a text message that invites you to take part in a 4-for-2 offer, whereby if you enter the Promotion a second time within the same Promotion round, you will receive an additional two text entries into that Promotion round at no extra cost. The additional entries will be automatically included once you’ve entered for the second time and you will not need to text again to claim this. If you do submit a third text entry for the Promotion, you will be charged. It is your responsibility to ensure that if you respond to this offer, the text lines for the Promotion round are still open when you do so.

11. Once the lines have closed, one entrant will be selected at random from all the entries received during that round. The selected entry must be eligible and have the correct answer (texting in during the correct time period, as explained in clause 6, constitutes a correct answer). If you are that entrant, one of our representatives will call you on the telephone number on which you entered. If the entry is ineligible, we reserve the right to select another entrant to participate in the Promotion or withdraw the prize and select another entrant, as applicable.

12. If you are this entrant, you may be asked to have a call with a presenter. That call will either be broadcast live or pre-recorded for future broadcast. You must answer your telephone when we contact you. Someone else cannot answer the phone, participate or accept a prize on your behalf. If: (i) you fail to answer the phone; (ii) someone else answers the phone; (iii) the call goes to voicemail; (iv) the call becomes disconnected; or (v) you are not (or do not seem to be) in a position to safely and/or lawfully take or remain on the call (for example, if you are or seem to be driving); or (vi) you are not audible or intelligible or we are not able to conduct a conversation with you in a manner that is suitable for broadcast for any reason beyond our control (including, but not limited to: low/no signal on your device, a call is dropped by any network, you are travelling, there is too much background noise or feedback, etc.); before or during the Promotion, you may be disqualified and we reserve the right to select another entrant to participate in the Promotion or withdraw the prize and select another winner, as applicable. If you have complied with all applicable terms and conditions, and if you are successful, then you will be declared the winner of the Promotion round, on-air.

13. On talking to the presenter, the winning entrant in each individual round must decide whether they wish to accept the cash prize available for that round, or forfeit this guaranteed prize amount in exchange for a place in the Million Pound Final on Friday 28th May. When the presenter asks the entrant to make an absolute final decision, the entrant will have 10 seconds to state their decision or else they will default to winning the daily cash amount.

14. The Million Pound Final consists of two stages, as described fully in clauses 18 to 25. For the avoidance of doubt, if you win a place in the Million Pound Final in the process described in clauses 4 to 13, or via the Win+ Platform, this signifies winning a place in Stage One of the Million Pound Final.

15. Winning entrants who choose a place in the Million Pound Final must be available to appear on an online video call on Friday 28th May 2021. Any winning entrant who is unable to participate in this call may, at our discretion, nominate a suitable alternative to represent them in their place. Alternatively, we may provide a substitute in place of the entrant, at our absolute discretion.

16. The number of rounds played each day for the Promotion will be decided by Global at our sole discretion. There will be a maximum of eight rounds per day, decided at our discretion. Promotion rounds will be announced in advance by the presenter(s) on-air. We reserve the right to take the Promotion off-air for bank holidays, or at other times when programming output requires it.

17. For the avoidance of doubt, unless otherwise expressly stated, each Promotion round is a separate round and the text system will be re-set after each round.

18. On Friday 28th May 2021, Stage One of the Million Pound Final will take place. This will include all the winning entrants who chose a place in the Million Pound Final (rather than a guaranteed cash prize), along with one other entrant who has won their place via a competition carried out on Heart’s online Win+ competition platform, (if they choose this prize option rather than a guaranteed £1,000). In Stage One of the Million Pound Final, nine of these winning entrants will be drawn at random, each winning a place in Stage Two of the Million Pound Final. In order to draw these nine entrants, entrants may be identified by a number in advance to facilitate the random selection process. Global reserves the right to change this number if deemed necessary, at any point before Stage One of the Million Pound Final takes place.

19. Entrants (or their representatives) will be given specific instructions once their place in Stage One of the Million Pound Final has been confirmed. If they do not participate on the online video call as requested, encounter technical difficulties or fail to follow any specific instruction, Global reserves the right to exclude them from the Million Pound Final (in which case their place in Stage One of the Million Pound Final will not be filled by anyone else). Global’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

20. There will be one additional on-air round of the Promotion, which will take place in the Heart Breakfast show on Friday 28th May, following the same process as in clauses 4 to 12. The winning entrant of this additional round won’t be given a choice of prize. Their prize will be an automatic place in Stage Two of the Million Pound Final, along with the nine other winning entrants selected from Stage One, bringing the total number of entrants in Stage Two to ten. Global reserves the right to extend the closing time of the additional round by up to five minutes if this is necessary for technical reasons.

21. The ten entrants in Stage Two of the Million Pound Final must be able to participate in a second online video call, also on Friday 28th May 2021. Any winning entrant who is unable to participate in this call may, at our discretion, nominate a suitable alternative to represent them in their place. Alternatively, we may provide a substitute in place of the entrant, at our absolute discretion.

22. The ten entrants (or their representatives) will be given specific instructions once their place in Stage Two of the Million Pound Final has been confirmed. If they do not participate on the online video call as requested, encounter technical difficulties or fail to follow any specific instruction, we reserve the right to exclude them from Stage Two of the Million Pound Final (in which case their place in Stage Two may be filled, at our absolute discretion, by selecting at random one of the entrants excluded in Stage One of the Million Pound Final. Global’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

23. During Stage Two of the Million Pound Final, the ten entrants (or their representatives) will each be asked to select a number, one at a time. Once an entrant (or their representative) has selected a number, Global’s representatives will reveal what is behind the number. The winner of the one-million-pound prize will be the entrant that chooses the number behind which the one million pound prize is displayed. For the avoidance of doubt, which number the prize is behind will be determined by an independent adjudicator, and neither Global nor their staff will have any input into or knowledge of which number the one million pound prize belongs to.

24. The order in which the numbers are selected during Stage Two of the Million Pound Final will depend on the order in which the entrants have been drawn from Stage One. I.e. the first entrant drawn will be first to choose their number and the last finalist drawn will be the ninth to choose their number. The remaining number will be allocated to the winning entrant of the last, additional round of the Promotion (see clause 20). In the event that an entrant is excluded, and then replaced by one of the unsuccessful entrants from Stage One (see clause 22), their place in the order will be that originally allocated to the excluded entrant.

25. In the event that only nine winning entrants or fewer choose a place in the Million Pound Final (including any winner from Win+), Stage One of the Million Pound Final will be skipped. An additional round (as per clause 20) will still take place in the Heart Breakfast show on Friday 28th and this entrant will win a place in Stage Two of the Million Pound Final along with the other winning entrants. (Please note - If fewer than nine winning entrants choose a place in the Million Pound Final then there will be fewer than 10 entrants in Stage Two of the Million Pound Final)

26. Global accepts no responsibility for any conflicts which may arise between winning entrants and their representatives. For the avoidance of doubt, the representative chosen has no right to claim any prize, either or in full or a proportion thereof.

27. We may publish and publicise your name, image, social media handle and/or profile picture, your nearest geographical location (for example, your nearest city, town or county) and your entry, and we may refer to your association with the Promotion and/or the prize, in any and all media, worldwide, in perpetuity, for publicity and PR purposes solely in connection with the Promotion.

28. In relation to winners (and runners up if applicable), you understand that we may interview you – interviews which we may film, photograph and/or record and and we may use such films, recordings and/or photograph(s) for publicity and PR purposes in any and all media, worldwide, as often and for as long as we consider appropriate or desirable, in connection with the Promotion. We may also publish your name, image, social media handle and/or profile picture.

29. By entering the Promotion you are requesting that we process your entry into the Promotion immediately. We complete the entry process immediately following receipt of your entry and therefore you acknowledge that once you enter the Promotion you will lose any right you may have to cancel your entry and receive a refund (whether under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 or otherwise).

Eligibility:

30. The Promotion is only open to residents of Great Britain (i.e. England, Scotland and Wales only) aged 18 and over, and who are based in Great Britain at the time of entry. For the avoidance of doubt, the Promotion is not open to residents of Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands.

31. Multiple entries into the on-air element of the Promotion are permitted up to a maximum of 12 paid entries per day (£24 + standard network rate charges); any additional entries above this limit will be excluded from the Promotion. The Promotion is for entertainment purposes only and we strongly advise against excessive use.

32. If you win either; a cash prize, or a place in the Million Pound Final during the Promotion, you may not enter the Promotion again and we reserve the right to withhold or reclaim any second or subsequent prize for the duration of that Promotion.

33. If you win either a place in the Million Pound Final or a guaranteed cash amount from an on-air Promotion round, you are ineligible to win via the online Win+ Promotion round, even if you entered the Win+ Promotion round before you entered on-air.

34. If you are announced as a winner on air but are later found to be ineligible, another winner may be selected in your place.

Prize:

35. Each round of the Promotion, one winning entrant will receive either; a. a cash prize with the minimum value of £500 (as announced on air by the presenter[s]), or; b. a place in the Million Pound Final. If the winning entrant chooses a place in the Million Pound Final, they will forfeit the guaranteed cash prize available for that round.

36. One entrant in the Million Pound Final will win one million pounds, as per the process outlined in clauses 4 to 25.

37. The prize is non-transferable and non-refundable.

38. We reserve the right to substitute the prize with another prize of equal or greater value at our absolute discretion.

39. Cash prizes will be paid by BACS transfer to the winner’s bank account.

40. With the exception of the one million pound prize, cash prizes will be paid into winning entrants’ bank accounts the same day providing the winning entrant provides the relevant details correctly, in the way directed, before 4pm.

41. Whilst every effort will be made to ensure same-day payment, we are not responsible for any delays in the banking system or delays in other systems required to make the bank transfer.

42. We reserve the right to carry out eligibility checks which may delay payment.

43. We will transfer the one million pound prize to the overall winning entrant once they have received independent financial advice, facilitated by us.

44. We are registered with the Phone-paid Services Authority (“PSA”): registration number ORG832-96388-41101. 45. As per clause 3, there is an additional Promotion round on Heart’s Win+ platform. This Promotion round will run from Monday 1st March 2021 to Sunday 23rd May 2021 on Global’s Win+ Platform which includes the following Global website: www.heart.co.uk, and will be promoted on this website and on Global’s other channels including but not limited to radio stations, social media, email newsletters, SMS text clubs, etc.

46. To enter this Promotion round, you must answer the question posed on the Win+ platform. 47. You must complete your entry by selecting the number of entries you would like to purchase and completing the payment journey through your chosen Payment Services Provider (PSP). The cost of the entry package you select will be made clear at the point of purchase.

48. This Promotion round will open at 08:00 on Monday 1st March 2021 and close at 23:00 on Sunday 23rd May 2021. Entries received before or after this time will not be included in the Promotion but may still be charged.

49. We are not responsible for any issues or problems experienced by your chosen Payment Services Provider, which may delay the delivery of your entry to us.

50. You must provide the correct answer to be eligible for the draw. Multiple answers will not be accepted. Global’s decision is final.

51. Once the Promotion has closed, one entry will be selected at random from all the entries during that round. The selected entry must be eligible and have the correct answer. If you are the entrant who submitted that entry, one of our representatives will call you on the telephone number which you gave us when you entered. If the entry is ineligible, or doesn’t have the correct answer, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize and select another entrant.

52. You must be available to answer your phone between 9am and 12pm on Monday 24th May. We will attempt to call you a maximum of twice, in quick succession at any point within this time window. If it appears that your phone is ringing continuously without going to voicemail we will terminate this call attempt at our discretion. Calls may be recorded and/or broadcast. If: (i) you fail to answer the phone; (ii) someone else answers the phone; (iii) the call goes to voicemail; (iv) the call becomes disconnected; or (v) you are not (or do not seem to be) in a position to safely and/or lawfully take or remain on the call (for example, if you are or seem to be driving); or (vi) you are not audible or intelligible or we are not able to conduct a conversation with you at any point during the call for any reason beyond our control (including, but not limited to: low/no signal on your device, a call is dropped by any network, you are travelling, there is too much background noise or feedback, etc.), you may be disqualified and we reserve the right to select another entrant to participate in the Promotion or withdraw the prize and select another winner, as applicable. 53. If you are the winner of this Promotion round, we will ask you to confirm which prize you would like to claim: either a guaranteed £1,000 or a place in the Million Pound Final (which signifies winning a place in Stage One of the Million Pound Final). If you are unable to quickly choose which prize you would like, you will default to winning the £1,000 prize option. Once you have made your choice, you may not change your mind. For the avoidance of doubt, you will be asked for your prize choice once you’ve been declared the winner, not at the point of entry into the Promotion round.

54. If you choose a place in Stage One of the Million Pound Final then you will be subject to the conditions in clauses 14 to 25.

55. We may publish and publicise your name, image, social media handle and/or profile picture, your nearest geographical location (for example, your nearest city, town or county), and we may refer to your association with the Promotion and/or the prize, in any and all media, worldwide, in perpetuity, for publicity and PR purposes solely in connection with the Promotion.

56. By entering the Promotion you are requesting that we process your entry into the Promotion immediately. We complete the entry process immediately following receipt of your entry and therefore you acknowledge that once you enter the Promotion you will lose any right you may have to cancel your entry and receive a refund (whether under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 or otherwise).

Eligibility:

If we believe that entrants may be entering across multiple devices or phone numbers in order to negate the spend limit, they may be disqualified from The Promotion. The Promotion is for entertainment purposes only and we strongly advise against excessive use.

Prize:

59. One winning entrant will receive either £1,000 or a place in Stage One of the Million Pound Final (as per clause 53).

60. The prize is non-transferable and non-refundable. No alternative is available except in our sole discretion.

61. We reserve the right to substitute the prize with another prize of equal or greater value at our absolute discretion.

Data Protection (applicable to both on-air & Win+ elements of the Promotion):

62. Your personal data will be collected and processed by us, our licensees (including Communicorp UK Limited and Quidem Limited), and if applicable, our service providers, network operators and suppliers in order to administer and fulfil the Promotion. Your personal data may also be disclosed to the Phone-paid Services Authority, Ofcom and/or the Advertising Standards Authority at their reasonable request for regulatory purposes, for example, in order to prevent, investigate and detect crime, fraud or anti-social behaviour and comply with law enforcement agencies and applicable advertising codes.

63. We may hold your personal data for a period of 2 years in order to comply with our regulatory obligations.

64. You may be asked if you want to opt-in to marketing from us or our Promotional Partners when you enter the Promotion. If you choose to opt-in, we and/or our Promotional Partners (as applicable) will use your personal data for marketing purposes.

65. We, the Promotion Partners and the prize providers may transfer and process personal data outside of the EEA and UK for the purposes of administering the Promotion (see our Privacy Policy for more details). You can opt out at any time.

66. By entering a Promotion, you acknowledge that any personal data provided by you in connection with the Promotion will be processed as set out above and in accordance with our Privacy Policy which sets out full details of how we process personal data and how you can exercise your rights as a data subject. Please ensure you have read and understood our Privacy Policy before entering a Promotion.

67. You may request the removal of your personal details from our database by contacting privacy@global.com. If you request that your personal details be removed prior to the conclusion of a Promotion, you will forfeit your right to enter the Promotion and/or claim any prize and we reserve the right to select another entrant to participate in the Promotion or withdraw the prize and select another winner, as applicable.
