Basingstoke Roadworks

11 September 2012, 12:00

Resurfacing work on a major road in Basingstoke's taking place over 7 nights.

The A30 London Road in Old Basing will be closed overnight Monday to Friday from the junction with Byfleet Avenue to the junction with Greywell Road between the hours of 7.00pm and 06.00 am, starting today.

It's part of Hampshire's £17 million programme of resurfacing work.

A fully signed diversion route will be in place and every effort will be made to allow access to properties.

Before the resurfacing is carried out, some preliminary kerb and ironwork replacement will be carried out, using temporary traffic lights.

Councillor Mel Kendal, Deputy Leader and Executive Member for Environment and Transport said: “This work on a major road is essential to extend its life and make it more resilient for the future. Operation Resilience is a planned £17 million programme of work on Hampshire’s roads over the next year and marks a significant shift away from reactive to planned maintenance."
