Berkshire Businesses Given Export Help

More than 60 businesses are getting advice on beating the Eurozone crisis at Reading's Madejski Stadium this morning.

The "Exporting for Growth" seminar has been set up by Reading West MP Alok Sharma and MP for Newbury Richard Benyon.

The session will look at how small and medium sized businesses in the Thames Valley can look at selling their goods to up-and-coming economies such as India, Brazil and China.

At the moment many of the UK's exports are limited to within Europe, so expanding to Asia and South America would help companies here to avoid the current economic problems their customers in the Eurozone are experiencing.

Lord Green of Hurstpierpoint, who is Minister for State Trade and Investment in the Department for Business Innovation and Skills will be explaining what the Government is doing to help.

Alok Sharma told Heart:

"It's really important that we try to work together to help our businesses and help our region.

"The reality is if we increase exports from companies in the Thames Valley it'll mean more jobs for us, more prosperity; and that's got to be a good thing."
