The family of missing Oxfordshire teenager Ellis Downes have confirmed a body has been found in the search.
16-year-old Ellis was last seen swimming in the Thames with his friends in Culham near Abingdon on Saturday night.
On Monday, specialist dive teams joined the search efforts.
In a post on Facebook, Ellis's sister Alex said, "All I have now are the happy memories of the cheeky, loveable, handsome young man I was proud to call my brother, and I will cherish those memories forever."
Adding, "I love you so much words are not enough, my beautiful angel".
Thames Valley Police Statement:
A body has been recovered from the River Thames near Culham.
Emergency services attended the scene near The Burycroft , Culham, off the A415 at 9pm on Saturday (7/5) following a report that a boy had got in to difficulty while swimming and had not been seen since. Thames Valley Police, together with search and rescue teams, have been carrying out searches to locate him.
Last night (9/5) at around 11pm divers recovered a body from the river. Although formal identification has not yet taken place, it is believed to be that of Ellis Downes, aged 16, from Harwell. His family have been informed.
His death is being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious and the matter is being passed to the coroner.
Supt Rory Freeman, LPA Commander for South and Vale, said: “Our thoughts are with Ellis’ family at this very difficult time.”
