Armed police are in Headington after two men carrying guns robbed the Lloyds TSB Bank on Oxford Road this morning.

Police were called at 09.53am today after two men entered the building carrying guns. They threatened cashiers and took money from the tills. At this time it is unclear how much was taken.

One man is described as white, around 5ft 9ins, of slim build wearing a black hat and scarf around his face with a yellow high-visibility vest over a black coat.

The second is described as white, in his late teens or early twenties, around 5ft 6ins, of average build. He was wearing a hat and scarf across his face, with a yellow high visibility vest over a checked shirt.

The two men left on foot and headed in the direction of the John Radcliffe Hospital.

The branch of Lloyds TSB Bank in Headington has been closed to the public while the police investigation takes place.
