Two people have died after a crash on the M40.
It happened just after 1.30pm on the London-bound carriageway between junctions five and four, near High Wycombe.
Police are telling Heart only one vehicle was involved – with both the driver and passenger being confirmed dead at the scene.
Officers say their next-of-kin have not yet been informed.
The motorway was closed for most of Thursday afternoon, with queues reported back almost all the way to Oxford.
Insp Daren Courtnay said: “I would appeal to anyone who saw the collision to contact the police immediately via the Thames Valley Police Enquiry Centre on 101."
Anyone with information about the crash should call Thames Valley Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
