Man Dressed as Santa Robs Oxford Shop

A man dressed as Father Christmas has threatened staff with a knife and taken cash from the safe of a shop in Oxford.

It happened around nine thirty this morning at the Next store in the Oxford Retail Park, Ambassador Avenue in Cowley.

The man in his 30s rode off on his bike afterwards.

Thames Valley Police have described the robbery as 'frightening' but are asking if anyone saw Santa to call.

"This was a frightening incident which has left the staff member very shaken.  We would urge anyone shopping around the Oxford Retail Park this morning who saw a man on a bike, dressed as Father Christmas, and who has not spoken to us already to get in touch as a matter of urgency" said Detective Sergeant Mark Stalder.

The offender rode off towards Blackbird Leys bridge - he's described as a white male, medium build, around 5ft 9ins to 6ft, in his thirties and was wearing a blue fleece and jeans under the Father Christmas outfit.
